Chris Burtin is an Associate Professor at Hasselt University, Belgium. He obtained his PhD at KULeuven, Belgium in 2012 under mentorship of Thierry Troosters and Rik Gosselink.
He is the current secretary of the Assembly of Allied Respiratory Professionals within the European Respiratory Society and the co-chair of the Respiratory Physiotherapy Group within the Belgian Respiratory Society. Chris co-authored 120 peer-reviewed papers and has a Web of Science H-index of 37. He mentored 15 PhD students as (co)supervisor. His main research interests are physical activity and exercise in patients with chronic lung disease, with a current focus on COPD – both stable and during exacerbations – and lung cancer. Chris is responsible for international affairs within the faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at Hasselt university and aims to be a strong advocate for international collaboration within the field of physiotherapy.
